Vedic Center Event: Overview of Foundations of Indian Culture

Foundations of Indian Culture
Venue: Vedic Center, 520 Bethel Dr., Mauldin, SC  29662
May 10th, 6:00-7:30pm

In this introductory session on the Foundations of Indian Culture, we will explore two key aspects of Ancient Indian Heritage: Shruti and Smriti. Shruti is Apaurusheya—not of human origin—a revelation of higher knowledge received by the inner consciousness of the Rishis who had prepared themselves to access this impersonal wisdom. Smriti, on the other hand, represents the tradition passed down by sages, saints, and scholars, encompassing a vast array of interactions with the social and cultural institutions of India.

During our discussion, various topics will be examined, including the ancient and modern Godheads of Vedic religion, ancient and modern Rishis, spiritual practices and forms of rituals across time, and different styles of mantra chanting.
