Introduction to Ayurveda, the knowledge of life Venue: Vedic Center, 520 Bethel Dr., Mauldin, SC 29662 May 10th, 6:00-7:30pm
Ayurveda honors the individuality of each person, emphasizing personalized methods for promoting health and healing. For an Ayurvedic practitioner, the process starts with evaluating a person’s innate constitution, which stays consistent throughout their lifetime. This unique constitution is determined by the dominant presence of one of three doshic combinations—each made up of two of the five elements: Vata (ether and air), Pitta (fire and water), or Kapha (water and earth).
A person’s dosha shapes their physical and physiological traits, as well as personality characteristics. Italso guides the Ayurvedic practitioner in identifying which elemental influences are most likely to impactthe individual’s health, lifestyle habits, and the types of diet and therapies that will be most beneficial. In this introductory session, we’ll explore the three primary constitutional types—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—and how each one influences a person’s personality, daily habits, and susceptibility to certain healthconditions. Participants will also have the chance to assess their own dominant doshic constitution.
