In India, Buddhism and Jainism developed as a reaction against the Brahmanical priests in the 6th century BC.
These revolts led by the kshatriyas (warrior class) of the royal families were also meant to weaken the caste system. New styles of art and architecture and the development of vernacular languages, contributed to culture and civilization.
Buddhism spread beyond the borders of India and soon became a world religion.
In this presentation of New Perspectives, we will look at the salient features of both these major religions, their influence and their role in the future spiritual growth of mankind.
