How Sacrifice is viewed in different cultures

How Sacrifice is viewed in different Cultures

The Birth  of the Unborn: The Paradox of the Original Sacrifice and its representations in the Religious Art of Christianity Buddhism and the major Hindu traditions
Abstract: If the Absolute is illimitable, yet is the only reality there is, then all relative phenomena, divided in space and time, must either be a contradiction of the Absolute or a paradoxical self-appearance of the Absolute. The second option is conceived in many traditions as a paradoxical sacrifice of the undivided illimitable to its self-limitations in divided forms and temporal and mortal processes. Different perspectives on this mystery have yielded different cosmological ideas, that have led to religious ideas and different iconic representations at the head of these religions. In this talk, I will discuss approaches to the paradoxical sacrifice of Being in terms of representations central to Christianity, Buddhism, Vaishnavism, Shaivism and Shaktism
