Mindfulness Meditation for Waking Up and Well-being

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an experiential introduction to mindfulness meditation, based upon the work of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn. Engaging with mindfulness over time can transform our relationship to stress and allow us to meet challenges with fresh eyes, leading to novel solutions.

Research has shown MBSR to be effective for a number of medical and mental health conditions including chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. In addition, many participants report learning to relate to themselves and others with increased kindness and compassion.

In this talk, Dr. Fayazmanesh will include a brief introduction to mindfulness and the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course, an overview of research supporting mindfulness practice for mental well-being, and a mindfulness meditation experiential with time for Q&A.

Please bring 2 raisins as we will be doing an eating meditation.  Please also have a yoga mat or blanket and a comfortable space for lying down and meditation.

Dr. Fayazmanesh is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, Riverside. He is also a certified yoga teacher and a Mindfulness Center at Brown University Certified MBSR Teacher.
