Principles of Ayurveda (the science of life), an ancient Indian system of medicine and healing, emphasize the importance of a holistic approach to health. The Ayurvedic diet and nutrition includes foods that nourish the body, delight the senses, and grounds the soul mindfully. As well, Ayurvedic cooking pleases all five senses and provides for the experience of all six tastes. It teaches us what foods to eat and when and how to eat them for optimal digestion and nutrient assimilation.
Beyond reviewing these essential rules, this course will explain what happens inside the body when we improperly eat improper foods or foods. We will also go into greater detail about the various food groups and how to choose foods per what is best for each Ayurvedic constitution type.
In this course, you will learn:
WEEK 1: CONCEPT OF AGNI (DIGESTIVE FIRE) AND AMA (TOXINS)
WEEK 2: SIX TASTES AND RULES OF AYURVEDIC DIET
WEEK 3: COMMON FOOD GROUPS AND THEIR PROPERTIES
WEEK 4: ESSENTIAL HERBS AND SPICES FOR AYURVEDA COOKING
WEEK 5: AYURVEDA COOKING TECHNIQUES
