Do you regularly experience a silent mind when you sit for meditation?

Is your mind silent as you go through your day, your consciousness filled with a sense of being immersed in an ocean of Divine Force?

Do you find, with just a slight effort, before beginning any task, you can listen with the utmost silence, your heart filled with a quiet joy and delight, and you receive the indication, the guidance, as to what to say, do, write, think in order to carry out a task – with little if any attachment or concern regarding the outcome?

What if the simple practice of breath awareness could help you with all of the above?

But is that a practice of the Integral Yoga?

What was the one and only text that Mother commented on, from beginning to end?

It’s a Buddhist text, did you know that?

Mother practiced Buddhist disciplines before coming to Pondicherry, and again, studied Buddhist practices in Japan when She traveled there. She regularly praised the Buddhist disciplines of meditation and related practices, occasionally suggesting they could help – if undertaken in the right spirit – with the various processes of Integral Yoga.

And certainly, in the course of practicing those disciplines, She also practiced breath awareness, perhaps THE core practice in Buddhism.

How can you use breath awareness to help with surrender, with silence of the mind, with growing more and more aware of the all-pervading Divine Presence, at work, at play, as you go to sleep, in dreams?

Please share your understanding of this in the comments section below. I’ll start with a few brief comments about the practice of breath awareness itself – something I’ve always found to be immensely helpful in opening to the inner and innermost depths of Consciousness, in recognizing the connection with the vast Impersonal Self, in surrendering more and more fully the physical, vital and mental consciousness to the Mother’s Force.
