Sri Aurobindo is well-known for his voluminous works, including hundreds of letters to devotees and major writings such as The Synthesis of Yoga, The Life Divine, Essays on the Gita, Collected Poems and Plays, The Human Cycle, The Ideal of Human Unity, The Secret of the Veda and his epic poem Savitri: A Legend and a Symbol. His major publications are covered in this course series as well as suggestions on how to read Sri Aurobindo’s writings and where to begin your journey into his works.

Recall that the inner petals of the Mother’s symbol represents the four great powers behind all creation. These four dynamic powers give birth to the worlds and builds up and supports everything in the universe. In Level I.A: The Mother’s Symbol: Four Mahashaktis, they are described as archetypal powers: Wisdom (Maheshwari), Strength (Mahakali), Harmony (Mahalakshmi) and Perfection (Mahasaraswati). In this series, we’ll revisit the role of each Mahashakti before taking a deeper look at how they represent the four major lines of soul development in any one lifetime. The soul’s line of development is referred to as its swabhava. Various reflective exercises and a self-evaluation quiz are provided to help you uncover your soul’s line of development in this life time.

Lastly, we’ll travel deeper into the subliminal realms of the inner mind, inner vital, inner or subtle physical and the subconscious. The subliminal worlds not only connects us with our soul, but also with the cosmic or universal consciousness, which is a key to unlocking the doors to higher and wider realms of awareness.
