The aspiration for a body, mind and life transformed and free from ignorance, decay and death is not new; it is a quest passed down through the ages. The Vedic Rishis aspired to immortality — not merely in a celestial Paradise, but in a divine consciousness and bliss here on Earth.

Sri Aurobindo takes us a step further, envisaging a divinized and spiritually transformed body, mind and life in the material world as the imminent and inevitable goal of human evolution. The Mother, in light of this joint vision, undertook a direct and intense yogic exploration into the very mechanisms of biological aging, working to awaken the cellular consciousness to effect a material transformation from within.

Modern science has recently taken several strides towards slowing down aging and even reversing it. But the true perfection and divinization of the body needs an Integral Yoga that unites the extreme poles of Spirit with Matter.
